Wednesday 21st July - walk **** - Nacton Shores – sunny and very hot.

With light winds and very high temperatures it was really too hot to think about doing much so stayed at home enjoying our back garden, me doing my exercises while Mag pottered in the garden which looks as pretty as a picture, she has done a wonderful job:) We then decided to pack a picnic and head out in search of a bit of a breeze driving the eight miles to Nacton Shores to have our yummy Lidl rolls on one of the benches overlooking the River Orwell with Pin Mill on the opposite shore. The tide was very low with only water in the channel with a few yachts out make slow progress in the very light airs and it was very hot. Much too hot to sit for too long so we went for a walk through the trees towards Ipswich this time with the private Orwell School parklands one side with impressive dead trees and sheep and the Orwell the other! We made it to the beautiful remote thatched cottage with amazing views over the river where we stopped for a drink before slowly strolling back. A noisy jet did some fairly low runs and a loop above use spooking large numbers of waders including several curlews! A nice afternoon walk but we were pleased to be back at the van, we then headed for home dropping in at David Coles to pick up my foil board he very kindly repaired for me and had a nice chat with Maggie Coles:) Another hot day before it cools off for Friday and hopefully a good easterly breeze for a windsurf/foil? Before it turns thundery for the weekend!
